Tribalogy - Abstract tattoo design. Also, if you would like to watch, here is the link to the video of this artwork being created. This link will bring you to my YouTube art videos. [link]. Enjoy.
First of all, as far as tattoo drawings go, the details and design of this one are amazing. You have somehow been able to weave all of those minor details to form a perfect-looking tattoo, and even give it a sort of "metallic" look as well. Considering the limited tools you use, that takes some serious skill and dedication.
Vision: As far as presenting or reflecting an idea, you have the themes of "identity" and "pride" down pat. Several people who get inked up with these tattoos believe they have strong links with their culture, for example, some Samoan tattoos I've noticed have incredible stories behind them.
From viewing this, I get a strong "iron grip" feel that suggests this tattoo carries a deep, personal meaning. This feeling, combined with the intricate and well-crafted details, really score highly in the vision field.
Originality: Admittedly, I can't flat-out call this "five-stars- original" because let's face it, tribal tattoos and designers of such tattoos are a dime a dozen. It's not exactly a new concept. However, it is very professionally executed and quite striking to say the least. The tattoo just seems to pop right in front of your eyes. The limited tools also suggest a wonderful approach. So while it scores highly, I can't give it the full five stars, sorry.
Technique: No question from me, you really seem to know your stuff about these tattoos and it shows in your drawings. Again, the lack of tools and yet the supreme detail of the tattoo suggest a highly skilful creation. As far as knowledge goes on the subject, perhaps yours is second to none. Full scores from me here.
Impact: Finally, there's impact. I cannot say it evokes strong emotions or resonates with me because I don't really associate with having a tribal identity. But when it comes to blowing my mind, you've succeeded and then some. I get the initial impression it could be a sword or a multitude of weapons, but really, it could be anything. Full marks here.
Overall, this is a truly magnificent drawing, and a true showcase of your ability to draw tattoos. Your knowledge on the subject is immense and people could really learn a lot from your style if they are tattoo designers or people wanting to get inked up themselves. Congratulations, and hope to see more!
oops. That last comment was an attempt to post the link to the video of this artwork being created. I posted the link to the video in the artwork description above. Thanks.
I don't often favourite art work and being a tribal artist myself and the range and technique you have used made me drag my mouse to my favourite button, really nice work and quite inspirational.. I'd really appreciate it if you could look at some of my tribal art sometime, even though most tribal is considered "the same" I feel me and you go a little further in this type of cultured art and whilst you do graphite art tribal I study in the art of learning "animal tribal" and just try and draw patterns which are different to everyone elses, which really every tribal artist tries to do.. but anyway fantastic work
